Acronyms are a daily part of everyone's lives, and if you're anything like me, if you don't know the acronym, you try to guess what the letters stand for. I rarely get it right, so over time I just started putting the most random words together and would get a chuckle out of it.
Acronyms for Hilarity was first played during a game night when other games became redundant. The first time it was played we used torn up pieces of paper with letters on them to create the acronym. We did not think to use categories, which led to some very unique and memorable responses. Over subsequent gatherings, we tried different formats and eventually decided on the version you now see. The custom dice were made after researching the most common first letter of words, and topic cards were broken down into subcategories to give each round’s judge the ability to be part of the fun.
With this format, our overall goal was achieved by allowing a virtually infinite amount of responses so that the game will never have the same answer twice. Each round, the players can use their own creativity rather than relying on the same cards over and over again. That being the case, this game can appeal to all audiences, whether you are with your conservative family or having a raucous night with friends.
We hope you enjoy the game as much as we did creating it.
